- Submitting a Claim to VAC - Please submit the authorization form, duly completed by your prescribing physician, along with your purchase receipts, through My VAC File online or by mail. Clinics can handle most of these administrative steps to save you the trouble. It’s also possible to arrange for direct billing of the products once the prescription has been obtained.
- Track Approval and Coverage - ACC reviews the claim and determines the amount covered based on medical recommendations.
- Order from an authorized producer —Buy your cannabis from a producer authorized by Health Canada (and submit your receipts for reimbursement).
Covered Amount: WCA reimburses up to three grams per day of dried cannabis or the equivalent in processed products (inhaled, ingested, and topical), as recommended by your prescriber. Reimbursement rate: $6.00 per gram (revised April 1, 2026—previously $8.50, under the 2025 Budget). The covered amount per gram may be increased with medical justification.
